The ultimate desert summer solution. The tram carries you from 100-degree valley floor to a crisp 65-degree mountain station at 8,516 feet in minutes. The forested Desert View loop delivers cliffside views hanging directly over the desert floor.
Trail Overview
The tram ticket feels expensive until you are standing in cool pine forest looking down at 105-degree Palm Springs from 8,516 feet. In summer this is genuinely one of the smartest outdoor experiences in Southern California. The Desert View loop itself is short and easy. Mountain Station has a restaurant if you want to extend the visit. Cold at the top even in summer โ bring a layer.
This Hike Is For You If…
Anyone in Palm Springs during summer who wants to escape the heat. Families with children. Non-hikers who want a scenic experience.
Skip This Hike If…
Skip if the tram ticket price is prohibitive. The loop is too short for hikers looking for a real workout โ continue on the longer trail system above for more mileage.
