Green Creek Trail to East Lake

The northern gateway to the Hoover Wilderness — tunnels of yellow aspens along West Fork Green Creek, massive old-growth junipers, and a rewarding climb past Green Lake to the multi-hued shores of East Lake.

Trail Overview

Green Creek Road is rough but passable with care. High clearance is more comfortable but most vehicles can navigate it slowly. No facilities at trailhead — plan accordingly. One of the finest aspen corridors in the Eastern Sierra. Fall aspens tunnel the lower trail in gold. Creek crossings can be challenging in early season high water. East Lake has striking color from the mineral content of the basin.

This Hike Is For You If…

Intermediate hikers comfortable with a sustained climb. Fall color seekers — exceptional in late September. Dog-friendly throughout with good water access.

Skip This Hike If…

Skip in early season if you cannot handle stream crossings. Skip if your vehicle is very low clearance.
