Cucamonga Peak via Ice House Canyon
One of the most demanding and photogenic summit climbs in the San Gabriel front country. After Icehouse Saddle, steep rocky switchbacks lead to a sheer cliff-edge summit with panoramic views dropping over the Inland Empire.
Trail Overview
This is Ice House Canyon plus another 2 miles and 1,300 feet past the saddle. The trail from Icehouse Saddle to Cucamonga Peak is significantly more demanding โ loose rock, steep grades, and complete exposure. The summit sits on the edge of a cliff with a genuine drop. Views are extraordinary but this is not a casual extension. Budget a full day.
This Hike Is For You If…
Very fit experienced hikers comfortable with big elevation days and some exposure. Good Whitney training hike.
Skip This Hike If…
Skip if 8 miles and 2,600 feet to Icehouse Saddle was already your limit. The extension to the summit requires significantly more.
