The full extension past Echo Mountain’s ruins, entering the shaded folds of Castle Canyon before reaching a historic covered vista point fitted with fixed sighting tubes aimed at Southern California landmarks.
Trail Overview
Most hikers on this trail turn around at Echo Mountain. The extension into Castle Canyon is where it gets interesting โ shaded oak ravines, significantly fewer people, and a completely different feel from the exposed lower climb. Inspiration Point has a covered shelter with fixed binoculars aimed at distant peaks. The full 10-mile round-trip is a serious day.
This Hike Is For You If…
Fit experienced hikers who have already done Echo Mountain and want more. Good training hike for bigger Sierra objectives.
